I started off today early, because I needed to be at class by 8am. Then I headed off to see one of my clients at 10am, then home. Instead of going home right away, though, I veered off and headed to Target -- Shannon needs new shoes and both girls need new boots and god knows I don't want to wait until it snows. I'm hoping it snows soon, there's too much green on the ground which keeps me from getting into the Xmas spirit. I've kept Xmas music on in my car, which I love, but I clearly need to burn a new CD -- too much traditional on this one, not enough Alternative. I looked around at the grass and trees and utter lack of snow and queued up "It Sure Don't Feel Like Christmastime" by the Mighty Mighty Bosstones. Made m
e giggle as I headed in to shop for awhile.I could wander through Target for hours, unfortunately (though I don't think Target considers it unfortunate), which is what happened. I got the girls boots and a pair of tennis shoes for Shannon, then headed over to the toy section again. They had these little ornaments with Kelly dolls in them that I snagged for my girls as well as a nice Hot Wheels case for my 5yr old nephew (to go with the cars we already got for him). I also checked out a karaoke machine for Shannon... Mom wants to give her that. Maybe I'll bring her back here later this week.
Both girls are bringing home more and more holiday stuff from school. Katie got to color a picture of a menorah and Shan insisted on singing the dreidel song from the time I picked them up until the time we got home. We let them finish decorating the tree today - I got motivated enough to pull out all the ornament boxes. It is beautiful... doing the tree is one of my favorite things and I look forward to it all year. We piped my laptop iTunes through the stereo, I made hot cocoa and the girls argued over who the Ariel ornament belonged to. Ahh... home for the holidays.
